We asked a few students from various universities to know how they maintain their ‘top student’ status in this time of crisis. We were given permission to share their thoughts in order to inspire other students who are currently struggling with their studies.

JEFFREY GAYORGOR

Rizal Technological University, BS Psychology

“There are a lot of things to do to be a good student. The most important thing here is that there are people around you who value you and motivate you to reach your goals. But the hardest part of being a top student is that the others’ perception of you might change when you make mistakes. I’ve only begun to be a good student during my junior year in high school, and now I study in Rizal Technological University. My classmates would also help me with my studies.”

MIRA MARGARRETTE GALANG

Bulacan State University, BS Nursing

“As a nursing student, there are a lot of things that I require for my studies. These things allow me to keep up with the course even though there is a pandemic going on. Sometimes, I struggle with studying. It’s just like when I had to read our module a week before a test, I wasn’t sure if I was reading the correct thing, which I ended up having a lower score on that test. I only started becoming a top-performing student this year. I’m currently studying at Bulacan State University. It’s thanks to God, as well as my parents, that I got everything I have now.”

CRISSY LAGYAP

Marikina Polytechnic College, BS Mechanical Engineering

“I have the resources I need for online classes. But the hardest part of being a top-performing student is to maintain this status so that my parents can keep being proud of me. I only started becoming a better student when I was in junior high school, and my family was the one who helped me the most to achieve this. They gave me the motivation I need, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic.”
