In preparation for the upcoming 2022 Presidential Elections, APOAMF’s Project iRehistro registered 243 new voters as of September 30, 2021. About 99% of these registrants are from the youth.
According to APOAMF, they launched the project as over 400 from the LRB community requires voter registration services from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). For this, APOAMF requested the agency to allow it to establish an on-site voter registration satellite in its place.
A long queue of registrants can be seen as early as 1:00 a.m. in the morning.
The project was also done in partnership with non-government organizations C.O. Multiversity and InCite Gov, where talks and orientation began on the last week of July 2021.
APOAMF also mentioned that 60% of the community’s youth participated in the project. The youth said that becoming voters is not just a way for them to exercise their rights and responsibilities, but is also a chance for them to choose better leaders for their future.
