CO Multiversity, Urban Poor Associates and the Urban Poor Action Committee (UPAC) organized a discussion titled “MaraliTalakayan sa Pagbabago ng Klima” last August 30 to talk about climate change and its effects on their lives.
Among the talk points discussed were issues on land, housing and others caused by climate change that have an effect on the lives of the urban poor. Such communities are often the first to feel the dangers of climate change.
The talks were joined and led by Uro Tahup of Institute for Climate & Sustainable Cities (ICSC), Atty. Mackie Maderazo of IDEALS, Inc., and Deputy Director of PMPI Candy Hidalgo.
Form there, UIPAC also developed points of action for the community such as organizing the youth as the main force of driving climate justice, spreading climate change awareness, and having a deeper understanding of climate change and environmental destruction.
