APOAMF held its annual "Calvary of the Urban Poor" last April 12, 2022 in LRB, where they commemorate the suffering of Jesus when he was crucified.

In its 37th year, it focused on the theme “End the suffering of the poor, Uplift our True Hope”. They said that the poor’s sufferings from losing their homes and livelihood are a metaphor for how Jesus carried people’s sins.

The program started at 9:30 AM with the reading of the Stations of the Cross, expressing issues they’re currently experiencing, and praying for the poor. Some participants also performed through poem reading, singing, and performing a play.

“Reception of the Cross of Hope” was also a part of the program, where the cross is shown having a pink cloth. This shows APOAMF’s support for vice president Leni Robredo’s run for the presidency in the upcoming elections. The program ended with participants offering their prayers and wishes to the cross.

According to one of APOAMF’s leaders Noel Cabangin, the Calvary of the Urban Poor this year

Ayon sa APOAMF lider na si Noel Cabangin, ang Kalbaryo ng mga Mararalita ngayong taon ay was full of hope despite the challenges they’re facing, especially on the topic of poverty caused by the pandemic and loss of permanent homes.

He also said that all this will end as they assign someone who can serve and protect the best interests of the poor, qualities that he sees in VP Robredo, her running mate senator Kiko Pangilinan, and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.
